Lubricant & product material compatibility

One wrong bottle can ruin a toy. This page is the single reference: which lubricant base is safe with which material, and how many of the products we actually stock fall into each material family.

The matrix

Product materialWater-basedSilicone-basedOil-basedWhy
Silicone34 productsBestAvoidAvoidSilicone oil bonds with silicone rubber and turns the surface tacky and swollen.
TPE24 productsBestAvoidAvoid on TPESoftens and degrades faster than silicone; oil-based makes it worse.
ABS1 productSafeSafeAvoidInert shell material — either base is fine, but oil can stain.
Metal2 productsSafeSafeAvoidNon-porous and unaffected; silicone gives the longest glide.

If a product's listing does not name its material, no compatibility claim can be made about it. Of 83 products we stock, 22 fall into that group and are listed separately below rather than being guessed at.

Products by material

Sourced from our own catalogue, so this list matches what is on sale. Each product links to its page on the shop.

Silicone — 34 products
TPE — 24 products
ABS — 1 product
Metal — 2 products

Material not stated on the listing

The supplier documentation for these 22 products does not name a material, so we do not claim one. If you need certainty before buying, ask us before you order — and in the meantime treat them as porous: water-based lubricant only, and a condom over the product.

How to read this matrix

  1. Find your product's material — it is on the spec card in the shop, and in the list above.
  2. Read the column for the lubricant base you have or are about to buy. "Best" means it is the right default for that material; "Avoid" means it degrades the surface over repeated use.
  3. If the material is not stated, use water-based only. That is the one base safe with every material in this table.

For the underlying reasoning, read silicone vs TPE and the care and materials guide. For choosing a lubricant in the first place, see the lubricant guide. If the deciding factor for you is whether a product needs charging at all, the power source breakdown sorts everything we stock the same way.
